Fight Song for Recorder

Here is one of my popular songs I taught on recorder this year. It is Fight Song by Rachel Platten. We recently performed the song as the finale to our Spring Concert.

Teaching the Song

The beginning of the refrain is pretty easy and shouldn’t require too much work. But the third measure may need a little practice to work on going from C to B to A and back to B. We worked on this part with just fingers first and then tried playing it on the recorder.

I love this song because it is very popular with the kids and it is very accessible to third graders since it only uses C, B, A and G. And of course, finding a pop songs that not only has clean lyrics but also has a positive, affirming message is gold!

The Recorder Part

Here is the music! Hope you and your kids enjoy! It would be a great one to put in a recorder packet for kids to practice over the summer. And speaking of summer, hope you all have a great summer!
