Orchestra Instrument Families

Are you looking for ways to make teaching orchestra instrument families more interactive? How about teaching classroom percussion instruments? The more that students can interact and apply what they have learned, the better they will learn the material.

This product contains sorting cards for orchestra instruments and classroom percussion. Each set comes with four (4) card options: color, b&w, labeled and unlabeled.

These instrument sorting cards are the perfect chance for students to apply what they know about instruments. In my class, students pair up, sort the instrument by family, and then check their answers. Students have great conversations explaining why instruments belong in a specific group, and they are doing it all independently with me facilitating from the background.

Plus, you can use these cards throughout the year for different purposes and units. You might consider adding them to:

  • Centers
  • Review games
  • Put two sets together to create a memory game.
  • Quick and easy assessment
  • Response cards while listening to a piece

There are so many possibilities! These cards are a great investment you can use for the rest of your career as a music teacher!
